Suites
An outside view of our four heavily beamed suites. Three are furnished with 6ft wide Super Kingsize beds, with headboards constructed using hand carved oak staircase newel posts from Crag Head a magnificent Victorian country house. Crag Head was built in 1870 as a private residence and in 1881 was occupied as a Royal Residence by King Oscar II of Norway and Sweden. The magnificent stained glass window pictured below and behind the main staircase bears the Swedish Royal Coat of Arms. This glorious house in Bournemouth was demolished in the early seventies. Thankfully Barry saved these important remnants for posterity.
Two of the suites contain oak beams which were salvaged from The State of Mississippi in America. They came from demolished cotton plantation warehouses and were shipped over to Britain as Architectural reclamation and due to their length of 21ft were ideal due to the shortfall of beams available on site.
The suites are in the detached rebuilt stable building to the east of the main courtyard. They are the largest, most sumptuous rooms in the hotel and have a small lounge area (not a separate room) to the rear overlooking the fields.
The luxury bathrooms have baths and separate wet-room walk-in showers. The solid oak bathroom door frames are copied from one in the MAIN HOUSE and fitted with reclaimed ledge and brace doors with old Suffolk latches.
