We do our best to provide a special service for all our guests but if you require something we do not provide or may think we do not provide please ask. A few examples

Special Diets

With sufficient warning we can usually cater for most people, celiac, vegan, gluten-free etc

Large Guests

We have 3 suites which have superkingsize beds. They are 6' wide and 6'3" long. They have coffers at the ends of the beds so that extra tall guests can rest their feet on them. Some of the rooms are built into the eaves and the bathrooms do not suit tall guests who may not wish to bend a little to get in the shower. Please tell us if you are tall.

Baths/showers

19 of our rooms have baths, some have showers above the baths, all baths have a hand shower for washing hair, room 12 is the only one that just has a shower but it is a wet room. The 4 suites have separate baths and walk in showers. If you have a particular preference please tell us.

TV's and music

We provide TV's in all the rooms with remote controls. Only room one has a flat screen, as an experiment. We are waiting to see if people really come away to a lovely Georgian hotel just to watch a flat screen TV. The rooms have clock radios but no hi-fi or dvd players. Please let us know if you want these extras in the future.

Wi-Fi

We have wi-fi in most but not all rooms. If you need it in your room please let us know when booking. The wi-fi is available in all the public areas and the service is complimentary.

Beds

Most of the beds are antique, a couple are quite recent but cute, none the less. Most of the older beds have a solid wooden base with a modern mattress on top. This makes for a lovely firm bed. A couple of the newer beds have complete wooden bases. These are also particularly comfortable. The suites have modern divan bases with mattresses on top but with magnificent carved wood headboards. We use foam rather than feather pillows.

Bedding

All the beds are made up using duvets. If you require sheets and blankets we will be happy to do this.

Heating

All the bedrooms have adjustable heating. Most have a numbered Thermostatic valve numbered 1-6. 1 is off, 6 is maximum. When you turn the heat up it is pretty instantaneous. When you turn it down it does take a while to cool due to residual heat, so please do not force the valve. It may break off.

Pets

There are several reasons why we do not allow pets. Some people are allergic to pet hair. It makes cleaning very difficult. Some pets do not smell good.

Complaints

If something is not to your liking, please let us know. Please do not leave it till checkout. It's too late. Please give us the opportunity to put it right. That way everyone can be happy.

Booking a table in the restaurant

This is essential. We are a relatively small hotel but we try to give a good service. The best way is to spread the bookings out over the opening times.

Early Check-in, Late Check-out, Early Check-out, Late arrival

Check-in: 2.30-10.30pm. An earlier check-in is sometimes possible if the previous guest has left early and you have arranged it with us. If you wish to arrive early and simply leave your luggage, this can be done by arrangement. If you intend arriving after reception is shut, please let us know as we can arrange for your key to be left in a safe place for collection.

Checkout: 7.15-10.30am Mon-Fri or 8.15-10.30am Sat-Sun. A late check-out is sometimes possible. The cost is £50 per room and it allows you to stay until 2.30pm. This is only possible if the next guest is not due in till later, this can only be done by arrangement. If you wish to check-out before reception opens we ask that you settle your account the night before.

Non-resident guests

If you wish others to join you for breakfast or dinner please let us know.

Rambling Buildings

The property is a rambling mixture of old manor house, rebuilt or refurbished farmbuildings. It is necessary to walk across the carpark to reach the restaurant from some rooms.

Cost and size of rooms

Some of our rooms are bigger than others. Some have baths and separate showers. The higher the specification the more expensive the room.

Babysitting

Sorry but we do not offer this service. I trust no-one needs an explanation of why not.

Non-smoking

Since the law changed, we do not allow smoking in any bedrooms or public areas. There is an uncovered area next to the conservatory, on the patio with an ashtray.
